Bleed Me A River

What if Danny became/is the Lazarus Pits?

Hear me out.

During one of his timestream missions for Clockwork, his human form is accidentally discovered by a young Ra's al Ghul and is therefore captured to see what makes him tick. He does unspeakable things to Danny to figure out how he's both alive and dead until Danny's form just can't take it anymore. He destabilizes and melts into a pool of sickly glowing ectoplasm.

So Danny is literally trapped in an endless cycle of agony and rage over his current predicament. It worsens with each person that's brought back to life literally with his own blood, siphoning bits of him away one by one. At some point, he's long forgotten what it was like to have a physical form, what happened to make him this way, and even forgets his own name.

However, due to the circumstances of how he was turned into a halfa, his very being is basically an unfinished portal itself -- explaining his ability to swap between forms and the glowing rings, but nobody can actually travel through it, etc, etc -- and with him so wounded to the point of destabilizing, its like an endlessly bleeding cut, ectoplasm constantly leaking out into his surroundings. The pool of ectoplasm just grows and grows until its the size it becomes in modern day, even splitting off into other pools hidden underground that haven't even been discovered yet.

Things continue like this until one day, the mangled body of a teenage vigilante is dropped into his waters. The boy's memories flash through Danny's mind and jump-starts his own to forcefully remind him of just who he is.

Jason's body and experiences are so similar, so compatible with Danny that when Jason leaves the Pit, he unknowingly takes Danny with him. Danny sits in the back of Jason's mind and slowly but surely gathers and puts back together the pieces of the person he used to be.

He's not happy. He's pissed.

Unfortunately, that fury bleeds over into Jason's mind and makes him highly irrational and violent.

How is Danny supposed to fix this? How is he going to separate himself from his unwilling host without hurting him? Are other pieces of himself reciding in other people who came in contact with his waters? If so, who has them? Who knows.

All the while, the remaining Lazarus Pit slowly starts to stagnate and lose its effectiveness, no one the wiser.

Would kinda match his behaviour, like he's detached and muted but is not disloyal, doesn't outwardly crave a close bond over a multitude of factors (hurts to let someone in only for them to leave the second he gets attached), he tolerates it however if someone breach it slowly. Limit on physical contact, another masked guy so there's a barrier there between himself and everything else.

He's always processing emotions differently, or at all really. Most of the things and events are easy to bury under layers of habit and duty. It's hard to feel them, it's just easier to...dissect, interpret, clinically examine emotions than to experience. Easier to detect and recognize patterns; how a smile works, what warmth is (tilt of a head, tilt too much to the left then it's anger etc).

Easier to see it in a distance, than to let any of it reach and settle inside him, whether he wants to acknowledge it or not.

Maybe that's why in mw3 he's just there, you know the scene I'm talking about.

Maybe he's waiting, watching, listening for that pattern and familiar rhythm he's came to memorized, the rise and fall clocked precisely at 1.2 seconds between each breath, waiting for his hand to swat his left wrist away with a cough.

But it doesn't happen, there's nothing.

Even though Ghost bloody knows (intellectually and clinically) that it's over, there's no pulse no movement no breath, the bullets gone through there's red staining his pants, there's also a large part of Ghost that just can't know it.

Can't process it, not all the way. But he also can't file it neatly away to the back of his head like everything else.

So maybe that's why he remained there even if the timer goes down and the bomb went off.

He can't let go, can't know how to leave, when to leave, when to accept.

Many authors overdo angst to the point that it loses significance, but this author using humor made the angst seem more tragic by contrast.

TommyInnit's Infamous Taxi Service - Chapter 1 - Roohoo - Minecraft (Video Game) [Archive of Our Own] - The author is writing the Brighton Biter out of the fic.

Neglected Space - Chapter 1 - AltairAstralia - Dream SMP [Archive of Our Own] - Backrooms + Minecraft. With many of these fics ( particularly the ones with Dream or the Biter ) they are excellent even absent of the source material and can be read as their own stories.

American but similar issues re autism: my therapist had me do the RAADSr test as it’s pretty accurate in lieu of actual autism testing. I scored high enough that, with notes from friends who’ve known me since childhood (family isn’t helpful), got me an unofficial official diagnosis. It probably won’t help if you’re going for support or aid with official stuff, but knowing made me feel a little less harsh on there being something inherently wrong with me. What is a "normal tone", how do you quantify sympathy especially if you work in medicine (I don't FEEL anything but I still do my best to comfort people), what is a "normal rhythm" for speech, how would I know if people currently consider me odd (as it would be extremely inappropriate for your coworkers to say sm like that to you), "younger than 16" feels so broad, like does it mean as a child? a teen? I just wish it was a little more specific, I struggled with answering a lot of these because I act very differently in a professional setting vs casual social settings.

Maybe I'm reading into these questions too much ( ﾟ_ゝ｀)

(one of) the most frustrating parts about the portrayal of drow society is that it wants to create Reverse Sexism without uncoupling itself from some. pretty foundational patriarchal ideas. it ascribes to the (tired, essentialist) notion that men are inherently good at certain things, and women are inherently suited for different things

but rather than the basic subversion of “women are warriors and men are the homemakers” or even early feminist thought experiments like “traditionally ‘women’s priorities’ are given importance over ‘men’s’ (ie things are governed by council, importance is placed on childrearing, etc)”, menzoberranzan is “this society still holds to patriarchal values and women are not as good at these things which is why it’s demonstrably worse”.

the biggest tell is that they have to control the male population to maintain female dominance, the implication being that in a fair fight, men would easily overpower them. it assumes the misogynist ideas as fact that “women are inherently weaker” and also “women are duplicitous” so the drow fighting style is based on stealth and sabotage rather than “”honorable”” face- to-face combat (letting lie also the assumption that the only avenue for ambition is through military violence, and therefore still making it so that they are reliant on men, even as disposable shock troops, for their success).

the only things that keep women in charge are by stacking the numbers on a systematic level, and through sexual domination on the individual level (because clearly the only real power a woman can have over men is her sexuality).

it is a society where “men act like men” but women don’t act like women; it is evil because an act of god created an aberration against the “natural order” of things, and there is no one to tend the hearth (because if the women won’t do it, no one will)

small gripe but I think the one thing some people need to understand for us spaus shippers we enjoy more than the canon baseline and tend to be inclined for the history and even then it's the whole opposites attract that makes it so interesting because the two most unlikely people getting together makes for such a unique dynamic to explore

if it works for every other major and crack pair in existence of the fandom, why do I still see this observation targeting spaus from time to time
